Chris Hughes

Chris Hughes is a BRAIN F32 postdoctoral fellow investigating neural mechanisms of intracortical microstimulation in transgenic mice. Prior to joining the lab, Chris earned his Ph.D under Dr. Robert Gaunt at the University of Pittsburgh studying intracortical microstimulation for sensory restoration in people with spinal cord injury. He is interested in combining human and animal models in the future to build better brain stimulation technologies and approaches for improved clinical applications. Currently, he is particularly interested in using animal models to understand the role of different neuronal subtypes in the network response of microstimulation.
